Passports
Appointments
Due to high demand passport appointments are extremely limited. In-person services are available by appointment only. If this is your first time applying for a passport or if you are not eligible to renew through the mail, you will need to make an appointment. To determine if you are eligible to renew through the mail, please visit the State Department website.
Things to Know
- Please note that you must make an appointment through our scheduling tool below. Appointments cannot be made by phone.
- Appointments are released 21 days from today’s date and book quickly. If you do not see an open appointment slot, none are currently available.
- We recommend checking the appointment scheduler early in the morning as appointments are released on a daily basis, and cancellations may make more slots available.
- If you do not see an open appointment slot on our scheduling tool, none are currently available.
- Another option is to visit www.usps.com/scheduler to search for appointments at a post office facility. (HINT: To find a more convenient appointment, try searching outside your zip code and increasing the maximum distance to the closest facility.)
Online Passport Renewal
Online Passport Renewal (OPR) is now available. Applicants who meet certain requirements can renew their passports online from the comfort of their own home. See the full list of requirements at travel.state.gov/renewonline .
It is still important for applicants to plan and apply for their passport well in advance of travel for both online and regular mail-in passport renewal service.
Please note that applicants applying on DS-11s will still need to have their applications executed at an acceptance facility in the presence of an acceptance agent .
What to Bring
All applicants must be present. Please bring:
- Unsigned, completed passport application form in black ink only for each applicant (must include your social security number);

If you do not have a photo, we now offer a self-service photo booth in our Littleton office. The booth instructs you how to take a photo that will be accepted by the Dept. of State and issues two (2) copies for $14.99 plus tax;
- Proof of citizenship, such as certified birth certificate, naturalization certificate or previous passport for each applicant;
- A valid, permanent photo ID for each applicant;
- A check or money order payable to "Arapahoe County Clerk" for the processing fee of exactly $35 per application; and,
- Check(s) or money order(s) payable to "Department of State" for the application fee for each application.
If applying for a minor child, both the child and parents/legal guardian(s) must be present. To learn about special requirements for children 16 and under, and for all passport and travel information, please visit the Travel State website.

Need a passport photo?
Our Littleton office now has a self-service photo booth. The booth shows you how to take a passport-approved photo and issues two (2) copies per customer. The fee is $14.99 plus tax.
Note: To use the booth, customers must be able to sit upright without assistance. For this reason we do not recommend using the booth for infants' passport photos.
